Yeah Piolet! The only time I climbed Pyramid in the summer, we took the NW ridge route, which does utilize that area. Great lines on the West face, too, that I’ve always wanted to check out.

And you’re right – modern AT boots STILL don’t offer the performance of a proper alpine boot.

They are way lighter, though… which is nice.

In my naive early 14er skiing days I took a summer recon hike to look at that line. I had an idea that you could make it go from the summit by starting north, then dropping to skier’s left and traversing across the upper west face. Didn’t take me long to figure out that it was a sketchball idea at best… so maybe we should try it sometime.
