If the Hoji’s had the same thin liners as the other two it would be about 130 gram lighter, in line with the weight of the other two. The extra weight you are paying for is for warmth. Personally I’d prefer the lighter, cooler liner and wish the hoji’s came with that option, but I think many people I think would prefer the warmer boot.

The fit is definitely different between the different Zero G versions. The new ones are lower volume in most ways. For me, I’ve had no issues, but Tecnicas tend to fit my feet very well. Sounds like the Hawx fit your foot- certainly the most important thing of all.

I was absolutely swimming in the ankle in the pair I tried on a couple years ago. The Hawx is the first stiff AT boot I’ve used that actually fits my ankle, but they are a little on the short side for internal length compared to other boots.

(FWIW, I have not noticed the ankle bulging thing at all on the Hawx. It’s a bit less progressive than my alpine boots but very happy with how they ski overall.)
