My wife and I just did this hike, and then hiked back to CB the next day via West Maroon. It was amazing. For anyone else thinking about doing that specific double hike, one thing to consider that saves a shuttle ride is parking your car at Judd Falls and leaving it there overnight. When you hike back, you’ll end up at the West Maroon trailhead which is further north on Gothic Rd. The Alpine Express shuttle runs from there back to CB, but will drop you off on the way to pick up your car at Judd Falls. Saves taking a shuttle trip to Judd Falls to start your journey

Comment on Book Review: The Edge Of Never by Dodge Andersen https://dev.14erskiers.com/2009/09/book-review-the-edge-of-never/#comment-24079 Thu, 06 Jun 2024 22:02:53 +0000 https://dev.14erskiers.com/?p=693#comment-24079 My wife, bought me the book. I loved it. I am a 59 year old former ski adventurer.

However, my by ideas about skiing adventure/fun are bounded on the serious end by places like Jackson, WY Snowbird, UT and Whistler, BC.

Places like Cham are a whole different level on the difficulty/danger scale.

Respect to those who are young enough and nimble enough to attempt it.

Ripping a nice fast groomer, or playing around on bumps no bigger than a VW bug is more my thing now LOL!

Yall are wild! At 930am, halfway through the fox traverse I was sinking up to my hips and turned right around. The last couloir leg after the fox looked insanely steep from my perspective and I would have been worried about skiing that solo, on top of a decent sized lip at the fox entrance that I didnt really see a great way to ski back over with the mega soft snow if I had continued on . Will have to come back for it next year in spring on a colder day.

It’s a reminder of the resilience and strength of individuals facing challenging medical situations.

On the contrary, regions near Fremont Pass, such as Climax Corner and the source of the Arkansas River, provide parking at the snowline – and late spring skiing that offers excellent value and quality.
